Transforming a Local Government Fleet – a case study

The last two years has shifted City of Port Phillip’s fleet considerably into an innovative space.

Council has undertaken a radical transformation to redefine its fleet; with an entire fleet strategy being reinvented to suit key organisational outcomes.

  • The strategy has amassed positive changes already in a short period of time.
  • Council’s main focus has been to consolidate the fleet for more effective utilisation and introduce electric and hybrid vehicles to reduced carbon emissions.
  • To align with operational strategy; ‘Act and Adapt’, Council will be carbon neutral by 2028. Council has developed a new Fleet strategy to redefine fleet management planning and to incorporate several new methods.

Biography

Catherine's fleet experience spans over 11 years in Local Government.

She has undertaken fleet management at City of Whitehorse for nine years and has been employed at the City of Port Phillip, since March 2021.

Catherine holds the following relevant qualifications:

  • An industry recognised Fleet Management certification from IPWEA.
  • Disruptive Strategy Certification from Harvard Business School online.
  • Graduate Certificate in Business Management from Swinburne.
  • Lean Six Sigma Continuous Improvement certification.

Her experiences in fleet range from workshop supervision, operations centre oversight and overall asset management methodology.
